Khammam: Former minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar has demanded that both the central and state governments stop playing the blame game and immediately address the severe Polavaram backwater issue affecting Bhadrachalam.
He pointed out that the current Godavari flood threat in the region is worsened significantly by the backwaters of the Polavaram Project under construction in Andhra Pradesh, rather than just natural factors.
Ajay Kumar criticized the authorities for showing utter negligence in finding a permanent solution to the recurring submergence problem, which causes immense hardship for local residents during every monsoon.
Highlighting his own past efforts as a former BRS minister, he stated that he had consistently fought against the Polavaram submergence issue and raised his voice for Telangana’s interests on multiple platforms.
Concluding his appeal, Puvvada urged both governments to drop their mutual blame-shifting, conduct a thorough scientific study on the backwater impact, and execute a permanent action plan to protect Bhadrachalam and its surrounding villages from future floods instead of just relying on temporary relief work.
