CM Naidu Terms It a Game Changer for North Andhra
AMARAVATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Bhogapuram International Airport on August 1. Reviewing the event arrangements during a high-level meeting in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu declared that the landmark project will fundamentally transform the socio-economic landscape of the North Andhra region. The project, which was initially conceived during the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) administration in 2014, was fast-tracked and completed in just two years under the present NDA coalition government. The State Government is preparing to organize a grand inauguration ceremony fitting for the historic infrastructure milestone.
Economic Transformation and Vision
Speaking at the review meeting, Chief Minister Naidu emphasized that the new international airport will act as a major catalyst for regional economic growth, tourism, and industrial expansion within the Visakhapatnam Economic Region. Drawing a direct parallel to how the Shamshabad International Airport redefined Hyderabad and its surrounding areas, the Chief Minister predicted a similar economic renaissance for North Andhra. He noted that enhanced air connectivity, alongside ongoing developments in ports, highways, irrigation, and tourism infrastructure, will generate widespread employment, boost local livelihoods, and spur long-term wealth creation.
Bhogapuram International Airport will be a game changer for North Andhra. Beyond better connectivity, it will create unprecedented opportunities, transform ordinary lives, and accelerate economic activity. The region is poised to become truly unstoppable”, said by N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
Celebrating AP’s Culture and Heritage

The Chief Minister instructed state officials to design the inaugural event as a major public celebration involving local communities, students, and youth. He emphasized that the welcome arrangements and airport aesthetics must reflect Andhra Pradesh’s rich artistic heritage, particularly showcasing the region’s vibrant tribal traditions and local handicrafts. According to CM Naidu, the opening of this world-class facility is a proud occasion for every citizen of North Andhra and should be celebrated like a festival.
