Story Summary

The story revolves around Raju (Chiranjeevi), a shipyard worker who moves to Hyderabad to seek medical treatment for his mother, who suffers from paralysis. While in the city, Raju saves Rao Gopala Rao, a wealthy industrialist, from a staged accident orchestrated by goons under the guise of a film shoot.
Grateful for being rescued, Rao Gopala Rao offers Raju a job in his company. Raju accepts, securing his position despite the strong opposition from Rao Gopala Rao’s arrogant daughter, Uma Devi (Nagma). Raju’s fellow employee, Vani Viswanath, develops a mutual affection with him. Raju soon rises in influence, even winning an election to become the Workers’ Leader.
Uma Devi, fueled by jealousy over Raju’s relationship with Vani Viswanath and his growing influence, decides on a drastic measure to control him. She approaches Raju’s mother and proposes marriage to Raju. Seeing this as a stroke of good fortune, his mother accepts. Caught between his mother’s happiness and his own feelings, a helpless Raju marries Uma Devi. Post-marriage, Uma Devi expects Raju to leverage his new position as her husband and become the owner of the company, bringing him under her “clutches.” However, Raju remains true to his principles, continuing to work as a regular company worker and refusing to misuse his influence.
The climax sees a major fire break out at the company. Raju bravely rescues all the workers. Upon his father-in-law’s desperate plea, he also rescues the trapped Uma Devi. Witnessing Raju’s selfless courage, Uma Devi has a change of heart, finally realizing her mistakes and asking for his forgiveness. Raju, valuing his mother’s happiness, forgives his wife, leading to a happy ending.
