The comments made by renowned film director S.S. Rajamouli regarding Lord Hanuman have led to a major controversy. Rajamouli’s remarks, which were recently made at a movie event, have drawn widespread criticism, particularly from Hindu groups and political leaders.
On Thursday, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, the BJP Co-Incharge for Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, severely condemned the comments. He called the director’s statements, made during a film promotion, “unfortunate.” Sudhakar Reddy released a video demanding that Rajamouli immediately withdraw his remarks and issue an apology. He stated that the director’s comments have deeply hurt the religious sentiments of crores of devotees. While acknowledging Rajamouli’s cinematic brilliance, such as the marvelous depiction of the Shiva Lingam in the Baahubali film, Reddy advised the prominent director to be more mindful of his speech. Sudhakar Reddy concluded that while democracy grants everyone freedom of expression, no one has the right to provoke or hurt religious feelings.
