Pera Sudha Sravanthi Calls for Women-Led Nation Building
VIJAYAWADA: The Rashtra Sevika Samiti, the women’s wing of the Rashtra Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has crossed several historic milestones in its 90 years of dedicated service to the nation, stated Pera Sudha Sravanthi, Zilla Baudhik Pramukh (District Intellectual Head), Hindupuram. Addressing a gathering of women at Satavahana College on Visalandhra Road in Vijayawada on October 11 to mark the organization’s 90th anniversary, Sravanthi recalled the vision of founder Vandaniya Laxmibai Kelkar (Mausiji). “In 1936, on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, Mausiji established the Rashtriya Sevika Samiti with the aim of empowering womanhood to take the lead in nation-building and cultural preservation,” she said.

Detailing the core philosophy of the Samiti, Sravanthi emphasized that the organization’s primary objectives center on the cultural, moral, and physical awakening of women. “The strength, wisdom, and leadership of women are essential today to safeguard our traditions, values, and Hindu heritage,” she remarked. Sravanthi commended Chief Guest K. Harika, Gazetted Officer with the AP Government, and Distinguished Guest Dr. Nili Durga Srilakshmi for their presence and support. Reflecting on the significance of the day, she stated, “We are gathered on the holy day —a day that symbolizes the victory of good over evil, dharma over adharma, and divine energy over destructive forces. Today, organizational leaders, mothers, and sisters have come together to honor the vision of our foundation.”
Highlighting the Samiti’s journey, Sravanthi noted that for nine decades, through regular daily shakhas, as well as physical and intellectual training, the organization has worked tirelessly to instill Bharat Bhakti (devotion to the motherland) in every woman’s heart. She called upon women to embody three foundational pillars:
Matrutva (Motherhood): Emulating the nurturing and value-driven spirit of Jijabai, who inspired courage and righteousness in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Kartrutva (Efficiency & Service): Drawing inspiration from Ahilyabai Holkar’s exemplary governance and dedication to social reform. Netrutva (Leadership & Valor): Following the fearless leadership of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, who stood resilient against adversity. Concluding her address, Sravanthi highlighted the evolving role of women in contemporary society. “In the face of today’s unique cultural and social challenges, women cannot remain passive observers,” she urged. “We must be active leaders in safeguarding our values, nurturing righteous generations, and building a harmonious, united society (Ekatmata). A strong, cultured, and character-driven woman forms the bedrock of a strong family, which ultimately creates a prosperous nation.” She concluded by calling on members to renew their pledge to serve Bharat Mata with discipline and devotion and to invite more women to join the cause of nation-building.
