Historic Moment for Piligrims
In a major boost to pilgrimage tourism and local transit, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Coal and Mines, inaugurated the newly constructed Komuravelli Punyakshetram Railway Station on July 26, 2026. Built at a cost of approximately ₹Rs crores on the Manoharabad–Siddipet line, the station is set to provide seamless rail connectivity for millions of devotees visiting the renowned Komuravelli Mallanna temple.
The landmark event was marked by the flagging off of Train No. 77654 Siddipet–Secunderabad DEMU from the new station, signaling a new era of mobility for the region. Prior to the proceedings, dignitaries and attendees observed two minutes of silence to pay homage to the Kargil Warriors.
Boost to Regional Growth
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy emphasized ongoing projects across the state, including the world-class redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station, upgrades at major hubs like Hyderabad, Kacheguda, Kazipet, and Warangal, the running of 5 Vande Bharat and 6 Amrit Bharat trains, and 3 sanctioned High-Speed Rail projects. He directed South Central Railway (SCR) officials to plan further platform expansions at Komuravelli and advised SCR to coordinate with the State Government to launch shuttle bus services linking the station directly to the temple.
Dr. K. Laxman (Hon’ble MP, Rajya Sabha), Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy (Hon’ble MP, Bhongir), Madhavaneni Raghunandan Rao, MP, Medak, and Bandaru Dattatreya, former Governor of Haryana, addressed the gathering. They noted that the station will serve pilgrims, students, employees, and daily commuters alike, while requesting further enhancements such as additional platforms and loop lines.
Speaking at the event, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, revealed that the Central Government allocated a massive Rs 5,454 Crores for Telangana’s railway budget in 2026–2027—a 20-fold increase compared to 2014–2015. He highlighted upcoming transformative projects including the Regional Ring Rail, High-Speed Rail (Bullet Train), and extensive line-doubling initiatives.
Modern Amenities for Passengers
Welcoming the gathering, Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager of South Central Railway (SCR), stated that the new station building comes equipped with modern passenger amenities, including:
* Spacious waiting halls
* Platform shelters and lighting
* Dedicated facilities for Divyangjan (specially-abled) passengers
The ceremony saw active participation from several key leaders, including Dr. Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, MLA, Jangaon), Smt., G. Padma (Hon’ble, Sarpanch, Komuravelli),, alongside other local representatives and senior SCR railway officials.
