New AP Committees Formed Ahead of State Convention
BMS leaders Raghuram and Lova Reddy press to address the challenges
GUNTUR, October 11: The Andhra Pradesh state executive committee of the Bharatiya Medical and Sales Representatives Association (BMSRA), an affiliate of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), convened its executive meeting on Sunday at Yogi Bhavan in Arundelpet, Guntur. Attended by 22 key representatives from districts across the state, the high-level meeting addressed pressing industry challenges, finalized organizational restructuring, and set a roadmap for worker welfare. The executive session was attended by several prominent union leaders, including BMS Andhra Pradesh State President Tangirala Raghuram, State Organizing Secretary Lova Reddy, Bharatiya Medical Representatives Mahasangh National Secretary S. Ravi, BMSRA State President R.V.S. Prasad, and Founder President Dr. Kakani Prithvi Raju.
Focus on Rights and Workplace Issues
Delivering a key address, BMSRA National Secretary S. Ravi highlighted major workplace issues facing medical and sales representatives. Leaders called for unified efforts to secure fair wages, job security, fixed working hours, statutory leave, and social safety nets. The executive panel also addressed frequent delays in salary disbursements and travel expense reimbursements. Strong concerns were voiced over increasing workplace surveillance, specifically the arbitrary imposition of GPS-based tracking systems, unilateral policy changes, excessive work pressure, and harassment. The association demanded a transparent, time-bound grievance redressal mechanism across pharmaceutical firms and urged employers to provide comprehensive health insurance coverage to protect workers not adequately covered under existing schemes. Furthermore, the leadership stressed strict enforcement of labor laws governing wage structures, Dearness Allowance (DA), Provident Fund (PF), Employees’ State Insurance (ESI), and occupational safety regulations.
New Committees and State Convention Announced
To streamline operations and accelerate membership expansion, the executive body announced the formation of new interim committees at both state and district levels:
Andhra Pradesh State Interim Committee: R.V.S. Prasad (Rajahmundry) as President, Rajesh (Ongole) as General Secretary, and Sridhar (Chilakaluripet) as Treasurer.
Guntur District Committee: Gandikota Venkata Reddy Subrahmanyam as President, A.V. Ramanamurthy as Secretary, and Balasubrahmanyam as Treasurer.
The meeting culminated in a resolution to hold a grand State Convention in Guntur on December 20, 2026. The association set an ambitious target to scale its active membership to 1,500 representatives prior to the event. Union leaders urged workers to bring their grievances to the association, assuring that formal representations would be made to government authorities and pharmaceutical managements to uphold workers’ rights.
