KHAMMAM: Describing the Working Journalists of India (WJI) as the country’s strongest journalist organization, WJI Telangana State Honorary President Nandanam Krupakar called upon union members to actively participate in and successfully execute the upcoming statewide membership and renewal drive. Highlighting that WJI’s parent organization—Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS)—is the largest labor union in the world, Krupakar emphasized the need to expand membership rapidly to further solidify WJI’s presence across Telangana. He was warmly felicitated by district leaders at the Anumula Ramireddy Function Hall during his visit to Khammam.
Speaking at a district leaders’ meeting chaired by WJI District Convenor Gantela Anand, Krupakar reassured members that WJI remains steadfast in fighting for journalist welfare. He noted that the state leadership has already initiated steps to restore railway concession passes for journalists and plans to intensify these efforts soon. Additionally, the union is preparing an action plan to push for pension benefits for senior journalists.
Joining the meeting over the phone from Hyderabad, WJI State General Secretary Ravikanti Srinivas commended the Khammam leadership for actively addressing local issues and announced that a state-level general body meeting will be convened shortly to map out future strategies.
During the meeting, WJI State Secretary Nara Subrahmanyeswara Rao (N.S. Rao) raised critical demands regarding journalist housing and accreditation. He urged the Telangana state government to urgently resolve the decades-long issue of allocating house plots to journalists, advocating for a clear strategy to avoid future legal hurdles. Rao also criticized the slow pace of issuing accreditation cards in several districts, demanding that officials expedite the process and issue cards to all eligible applicants immediately.
The gathering was attended by prominent district figures, including WJI Co-Convenors M.A. Ansar Pasha and Amaraneni Ramakrishna, Khammam City Convenor K. Kalyan Chakravarthy, along with key leaders Modipalli Kiran, Jabishetti Kutumba Rao, Enigandla Srinivasa Rao, and Boddupalli Ravinder.
