Deepak Chowdary, who was appointed as President of of Khammam City Congress Committee (within the limits of the Municipal Corporation), explains his goals to the Prime Post.
Prime Post: What is your reaction on the appointment as President of Khammam City Congress?
Deepak: I am deeply honored and grateful to announce my appointment by the AICC and TPCC as the President of the Khammam City Congress Committee. This prestigious responsibility is a profound recognition of my 26 years of sincere and dedicated service to the Congress party.
PP: What is the role of three ministers of the district in selecting you to the post?
Deepak: I thank our district leaders for their trust, including Minister for Agriculture, Marketing, Co-operation, and Handlooms and Textiles Tummala Nageswara Rao garu, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka garu, and Minister for Revenue, Housing, Information and Public Relations P. Srinivasa Reddy garu, Rajya Sabha MP Renuka Chowdary garu and Khammam MP R Raghurama Reddy garu.
PP: What is your target after swearing-in as President of Khammam City Congress president?

Deepak: My goal is clear and twofold. Firstly, Congress should win more divisions in the coming Municipal Corporation Elections. Ensure Congress party candidates achieve a majority sweep across all divisions within the Khammam Municipal Corporation limits in the upcoming elections. Secondly, Secure double the majority for Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao garu in the next elections from the Khammam Assembly Constituency, building upon our success in 2023.
PP: What is your Action Plan to reach out the party to the people of Khammam?
Deepak: We have a robust action plan to achieve these targets by strengthening our grassroots presence and focusing on the people. We will immediately identify the most sincere and hard-working party activists to constitute new Division Committees in every division. Members of these committees will knock on every door in their locality to achieve two critical objectives such as scheme Awareness. The committee members will explain all welfare schemes currently being implemented by the government.
PP: There are allegations that some of the eligible poor are not receiving government schemes. What is your plan to solve this problem?
Deepak: Identify eligible families who are not yet receiving benefits and promptly bring these issues to the notice of concerned authorities for resolution. The Local Issues will be mapped first. The committees will conduct a comprehensive survey to pinpoint local infrastructural and civic issues, creating a complete picture of the challenges facing our city.
PP: It is common for political leaders to make promises. Are you not one among them? What do you say about it?

Deepak: It is not in my case. Strengthening the party and resolving the issues of the people are my paramount goals. I pledge to be available 24 hours a day to the people and our dedicated party workers. I encourage anyone to approach me at any time to share their concerns and contribute to our mission. We are committed to the comprehensive development of Khammam City. I will take the help of district ministers for it.
PP: There are the major infrastructure bottlenecks, such as road congestion, sewage systems and water supply shortage in the Khammam Municipal Corporation. How do you solve them?
Deepak: We will devise a plan to permanently resolve the recurring problem of Munner flood-affected colonies. I will actively pursue our Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on the solutions for any other outstanding issues identified in the town. The construction of the Rail Under Bridge (RUB), for which Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao garu has already completed and the timely completion of the second bridge on Munner are top priorities. My ultimate dream is to collaborate with all stakeholders and our visionary leadership to shape Khammam into a model Smart City for the future.
