Parameshwar Hivrale, a young director who came from the Pune Film Institute in the direction wing, is readying his sets to film the life of Gummadi Narasaiah, who worked as an MLA for 23 years with integrity. It is Hivrale’s debut film. Prime Post tried to know the mind of the director.
Prime Post: What moved you to make a biopic on the life of Gummadi Narasaiah, former MLA? Who is the actor to play in his role?
Parameshwar: My decision to create a biopic on Gummadi Narasaih garu was profoundly influenced by an analysis of his distinguished life. His simple living, impeccable character, and unwavering commitment to finding solutions for the poor deeply resonated with me. Specifically, his sincerity in extending service to the people of his Yellandu constituency stood out as a beacon of dedication. To ensure authenticity, I have undertaken extensive research, meeting with numerous individuals who worked alongside him and diligently collecting comprehensive information about his life and impact. Shiva Raj kumar, a famous Kannada actor, is the lead actor of the film.

PP; What other aspects of the leader’s life did you study? What was the single most particular act of his that you liked?
Parameshwar: The actions of Narasaiah, a public representative, set a remarkably high standard for political integrity in the country. It is surprising, and indeed a rare phenomenon in Indian politics, that he consistently donated his entire monthly salary and all associated perks paid by the State government directly to his political party. Narasaiah also displayed a commendable quality of humility and groundedness. Following his defeat in a particular election, he didn’t cling to the political arena but instead gracefully accepted the result by returning to his roots. His choice to step back into his field and be seen holding a plough is a positive example of integrity.

PP: Do you have any dream for India’s policies that would better serve society?
Parameshwar: I had a dream of changing the pattern of government policies in India. The people will do wonders if the government provided free education and free medical and health services. The political system only can do such reforms. In my school and college life, my father as a small transport operator used to struggle a lot in paying our college fee.
PP: Why is only the political executive? The IAS, IPS, engineers and teachers were also part of the government, is it not?.
Parameshwar: If a sincere IAS officer can do good work only in his district. A committed engineer can gave quality service in his department and doctor can extend cure the ailments of the patients coming to his hospital. But, a legislator or good political executive can give good governance to all the people of the country.
PP: What is your previous experience in film industry? Did you make any films previously? What is background?
Parameshwar: My father shifted our family to Nandhed in Maharastra from Kamareddy in Telangana and I studied there in Telugu medium. I write and speak in both Telugu and Marathi. I joined Pune Film Institute to know the direction department. But, I acted eleven Telugu films so far including Marmam, Akasadesana and Kumari 18 plus. Gummadi Narasaiah’ biopic film is my debut movie as a director. The shooting will start soon.

PP: How is the response of producer Suresh Reddy after hearing your proposal of making a biopic on Gummadi Narasaiah?
Parameshwar: Interestingly, the mind of Suresh Reddy is also service-oriented. His concept is, “Nothing is permanent in the world. A person do service to the people in any people oriented activity is the motto of him. He set up a non-government organization and extending yeoman service to the people. The producer came from erstwhile Khammam district and he knew Narasaiah very well. He accepted my proposal.
