Akshaye Khanna has always been a “performer’s actor,” but his portrayal of Rahaman Dakait in the blockbuster Dhurandhar has officially cemented his legacy as a powerhouse of Indian cinema. While the film shattered records, it was Khanna’s magnetic presence that truly stole the show. Here is a breakdown of the iconic moments where Akshaye Khanna dominated the screen.
The Heart of a Father: “Bachha Hai… Nahi Maarne Ka Tha”
The hospital sequence serves as the emotional anchor of the film. Khanna’s entrance is nothing short of majestic, yet it’s his vulnerability that stuns the audience. Standing over his son’s body, his expression shifts from cold criminal to a broken father. When he delivers the line—”Bachha Hai. Nahi Maarne Ka Tha“—it isn’t just a dialogue; it’s a chilling warning wrapped in grief. His subsequent interaction with his wife is a masterclass in nuanced acting, showing a side of a “Dakait” rarely seen on screen.
The Ruthless Criminal: Familial Betrayal
To contrast his paternal love, Khanna portrays Rahaman’s dark side with terrifying precision. The scene where he kills his own father is arguably the most “cruel” moment in the film. Khanna sheds all empathy, adopting the cold, calculated expressions of a true criminal, proving that for Rahaman Dakait, power and loyalty to his path come before everything.
The Patriot Among Villains

Perhaps the most complex layer Khanna adds to Rahaman is his unwavering patriotism. Despite his illegal dealings, he remains a son of the soil. The Gun Deal- When meeting the Khanani brothers to trade arms, he flatly refuses any deal that harms his country, stating he cannot do injustice to his motherland. Even when offered political support and weapons by Major Iqbal, Rahaman stands his ground. Their difference of opinion highlights Rahaman’s code of ethics he may be a criminal, but he is not a traitor. In the high-stakes underworld of Dhurandhar, the moment Rahaman Dakait closes the gun deal with the Khanani brothers and Major Iqbal is a masterclass in psychological warfare. Akshaye Khanna delivers a spine-chilling warning that shifts the room’s temperature from business-like to burial-cold.
His dialogue isn’t just a threat
IT is a manifesto of his ruthless code. He makes it clear, while he honors the deal for the sake of his goals, his loyalty is to his motherland alone. He warns them that if a single shadow of deception or “doglapan” (hypocrisy) touches the transaction, they will witness a side of Rahaman that transcends standard criminality. Khanna’s delivery is “pentastic”—low-voiced and steady, yet vibrating with “unexpected cruelty.” He implies that his retaliation won’t just be a bullet; it will be an era of suffering. This scene defines Rahaman as a tiger who allows others to play in his jungle only as long as they follow his rules.
The Political Titan and Socialite
Khanna’s screen presence is at its peak during the political rallies. His entrance onto the stage to deliver his speech is “majestic” in every sense of the word. However, he also shows a lighter, more rhythmic side of the character. Whether he is dancing with Baluchistan nationals or celebrating at the wedding of Hamaj (Ranveer Singh), Khanna brings a grounded, infectious energy to the screen that makes the character oddly likable despite his flaws.
The Verdict: A Timely Hit
Dhurandhar wasn’t just a financial success; it was the “Akshaye Khanna Show.” While Ranveer Singh and Sanjay Dutt delivered strong performances, it was Khanna who provided the film’s soul and its most “pentastic” action. His ability to pivot from a grieving father to a ruthless killer, and finally to a patriotic rebel, makes Rahaman Dakait one of the most well-rounded characters in modern Indian cinema.

Super movie , waiting for part II
Different platforms different performances. Conveying intent in dialogue is one aspect but to convey intent in what is unsaid , that factor Akshay pulled off very well.
Dhurandhar movie is spy action thriller, it is a powerful movie with great performance from Akshay Khanna. Even Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal had great roles, and Ranveer Singh ‘s career best performance. And Madhavan ‘s important role as head of the Indian intelligence bureau was impressive.
