Visvodaya Pillar Kompalli Venkata Kotilingam
Kompalli Venkata Kotilingam, a renowned lecturer, former head of political science department at Jawahar Bharati college, Kavali, breathed his last on Tuesday, 03-08-2026, at 10 am. He lived for 90 years. He studied at Jawahar Bharati and worked as a lecturer at the same college till the end. He retired as vice-principal on 31 October 1994. After retirement, he worked as a correspondent of Jawahar Bharati Junior College for eleven years from 1996 to 2007. He was always doing his best for the development of Jawahar Bharati group of institutions of which he was considered as one of the pillars. Kotilingam was vice-president, executive member and a permanent member of Visvodaya General Council. He had a very affectionate association of seven decades with Visvodaya and Jawahar Bharati institutions.
Prominent Political Science Author and Educator
Kotilingam was felicitated with the honorary life membership of Visvodaya in 2010. He authored several books on political science and civics. Some of them are: Independence movement-constitutional development for MA students. Political thoughts and institutions for BA students. Civics text book for intermediate students. He is known for encouraging critical analysis than memorizing the subject.
Poet, Philosopher, and Lifelong Learner
Besides subject books, he also wrote books (one hundred poems each) on ‘Iham – Param’ and personality development. He has been an eternal student. He was longing to learn new things till the fag end of his life. He used to proudly declare that he is an eternal student. Dodla Vinay Kumar Reddy, Visvodaya Rector, retired lecturer V. Chenchiah, member of Visvodaya Committee K. Tati Reddy and the lecturers’ association of Jawahar Bharati have expressed their grief over the demise of Kotilingam Sir. They said his passing away is a profound and irreparable loss to the student community and Visvodaya family.
