At a massive public meeting in Khammam to mark 100 years of the Communist Party of India (CPI), National General Secretary D. Raja delivered a powerful speech challenging the historical claims of the RSS. He stated that while the CPI and the Congress have a 100-year history of fighting for the country, the RSS has no such legacy. Raja accused the RSS of desperately trying to portray themselves as patriots today, despite having no significant role in the Indian freedom struggle against British rule.
A History of Sacrifice vs. Silence
D. Raja highlighted that the CPI was formed on December 26, 1925, in Kanpur, with the specific goal of achieving “Complete Independence” (Purna Swaraj) a call they gave even before the Congress party. He contrasted this with the RSS, which was also formed in 1925 but, remained absent from the independence movement. He asked a direct question that “What was the role of the RSS during the freedom fight and in the years following independence?” He asserted that only those who struggled and made sacrifices for the people have the right to call themselves true patriots.

Criticism of the Current Government
The CPI leader D. Raja also took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that the PM lacks the strength to stand up to international pressures, particularly from the U.S. Raja mentioned that while U.S. President Donald Trump is acting with an “imperialist” and “dictatorial” attitude by threatening countries like Mexico and Cuba, the Indian government remains silent. He expressed regret that India is being pressured by the U.S. to stop buying oil from Russia, and he blamed the central government for allowing wealth to stay in the hands of a few while communal forces rise in the country.

Congress and CPI to Unite Against BJP
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who attended the event, praised the CPI for its long history of fighting for farmers, laborers, and the marginalized. He noted that while Communists raised slogans like “Land to the Tiller,” it was Congress leaders like Indira Gandhi and PV Narasimha Rao who implemented land reforms. He accused the BJP government of being a puppet of capitalists and trying to weaken the Constitution. Reddy warned that the BJP’s new policies could potentially snatch away the voting rights of the poor, which would lead to the loss of welfare schemes like ration cards and pensions.
Key Leaders in Attendance
The event was attended by several high-profile leaders, including Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, state ministers Thummala Nageswara Rao, Vakiti Sri Hari and state government advisor Narender Reddy. The CPI leadership was represented by a large delegation of national and state leaders. Key figures included National Secretariat members such as Amarjeet Kaur, Giri Sharma, Annie Raja, Prakash Babu, Sandosh Babu, Palla Venkat Reddy, Binoy Viswam, Ramakrishna Panda, K. Ramakrishna, and Kuldev. Additionally, National Control Commission Chairman K. Narayana, senior leader Puvvada Nageswara Rao, and Media Academy Chairman K. Srinivas Reddy were also in attendance.
The event also featured regional leaders including CPI State Assistant Secretaries Takellapalli Srinivas Rao and ET Narasimha, along with several National Committee members like Bagam Hemanta Rao, SK Sabir Pasha, Vanaja, Nageswara Rao, and Satyanarayana. Other notable attendees included MLC N. Satyam and the famous playback singer Vandemataram Srinivas, making the event a significant gathering of political and cultural personalities.
