Hundreds of Devotees taken part in the Ritual
The Pavitra Samarpana program was grandly and religiously performed on the second day (Sunday) of the annual Pavitrotsavam festival at the Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple in Tirupati.
As part of it vedic rituals have been performed since morning of Sunday. The day began early with Suprabhatam to awaken the deity, followed by Tomala Seva and Sahasranamarchana. The processional idols of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, and Lakshmana were brought to the Yagashala. Special rituals like Vishwaksenaradhana, Punyhavachanam, Kumbharadhana, and Ukta Homams were performed.
Snapana Tirumanjanam
A grand celestial bath (Snapana Tirumanjanam) was performed for the idols of Sri Kodandarama Swamy, Sita, and Lakshmana using milk, curd, honey, sandalwood paste, and tender coconut water. Later, Archakas offered sacred garlands (Pavitrams) to the Lord. After offering special prayers in the Yagashala, the sacred garlands (Pavitrams) were brought in a procession to the main sanctum. They were offered to the other deities (Dhruva), Kautuka, Snapana, and Bali idols.

Processional Ride on the Golden Tiruchi
In the evening, Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana were taken in a procession around the temple streets (Mada Streets) on a Golden Tiruchi to bless the devotees, followed by evening Vedic rituals at the Yagashala. During special festivals like Pavitrotsavams or Brahmotsavams at the Sri Kodanda Rama Swami Temple in Tirupati, the processional deities of Sri Sita, Lakshmana, and Rama are taken out on a celestial evening procession over the Golden Tiruchi (a golden-plated mounted platform/chariot) along the four mada streets to bless devotees.
Festival on August 10
The Pavitrotsavam celebrations were concluded on August 10 (Monday) with final Vedic rituals and the Poornahuthi ceremony at the Yagashala. Sacred Rituals have been performed to the Deities on the occasion.
Temple Deputy EO B. Nagaratna, Head Priest Anand Kumar Dikshitulu, Superintendent K. Srinivasulu Reddy, Temple Inspectors Suresh and Harikrishna were among those who attended along with temple priests, Srivari Sevakulu were, and a large number of devotees attended the event.
