In a resolute show of solidarity, former Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar has reaffirmed the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party’s commitment to supporting poor families displaced from the Velugumatla Budhan lands in Khammam. The announcement comes in the wake of a controversial demolition drive by the current Congress administration, which has left numerous residents homeless and sparked a heated political standoff.
A Promise of Legal Recourse
The BRS has positioned itself as the primary advocate for the affected families, characterizing the government’s actions as an unjust assault on the underprivileged. This follow-up action stems from a recent visit by BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), who met with the victims in Khammam to offer consolation. During that visit, KTR pledged that the party would not only provide moral support but would also spearhead a legal offensive, vowing to take the fight from the High Court to the Supreme Court if necessary.
Strategic Coordination in Hyderabad
Fulfilling the leadership’s promise, Puvvada Ajay Kumar facilitated a high-level meeting in Hyderabad today, inviting the Budhan victims to coordinate directly with the BRS Hyderabad Legal Cell. During the session, the former minister guaranteed that the party would provide the necessary legal machinery to contest the evacuations. “We urge the victims to remain courageous,” Puvvada stated. “The BRS party stands firmly behind you, and we will ensure that your fight for justice is heard in the highest corridors of the judiciary”, he said.
The meeting served as a strategic briefing that brought together high-profile party members and dedicated community advocates to coordinate their next steps. Key participants included City President Pagadala Nagaraju, Legal Cell Advocate Mekala Suguna Rao, and former Deputy Mayor Battula Murali, all of whom provided administrative and legal guidance. They were joined by prominent leaders of the Budhan Victims’ Association, including Devalla Veeranna, Sampangi Venkateswarlu, Sampangi Venkatachalam, Bandi Srinu, Puppala Srinu, and Jara Anjaneyulu, ensuring the voices of those directly affected remain at the center of the legal battle.
