Name NAMO, a famous name in Tamil Nadu.
“Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, BJP National Co-Incharge of Tamil Nadu and a Core Committee member for Telangana and Karnataka, expressed his views in an exclusive interview with The Prime Post. A resident of Narayanapuram in Kallur mandal in Telangana, Sudhakar Reddy previously worked with the Congress and was elected as an MLC before joining the BJP. He explained the BJP’s future in Tamil Nadu and Telangana.”
Prime Post: The Bharatiya Janata Party has been making efforts to hoist its flag over Tamil Nadu for the last eleven years. Will it be possible in the 2026 assembly elections or will it remain just a dream? As a National Co-incharge of the BJP in Tamil Nadu, what is your view?
Sudhakar Reddy: The BJP cadre in Tamil Nadu, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is eager to fulfill this goal in the 2026 assembly elections. The AIDMK-BJP led alliance is just a step away from making the party’s aspiration for power a reality. The exercise to fulfill the target is on, and the dream will become a reality. The aspiration of the people is also the same..

PP: How do you express such confidence when the NDA’s vote share in Tamil Nadu in the 2024 general elections nominal presence? As the National Co-incharge for Tamil Nadu, what is the BJP’s realistic and long-term strategy to strengthen its base in a state dominated by regional parties?
Sudhakar Reddy: The National Democratic Alliance secured an impressive 18.7 percent vote share in the 2024 general elections. We fought in the elections with the other regional parties. This is a big achievement for the BJP. The AIDMK, led by E. K. Palaniswami, contested separately, allying with other parties. The AIDMK stood in second place in the 2024 general elections. The new alliance –AIDMK led-NDA other parties will hit the goal. This leaves no need for much elaboration on the AIDMK led-NDA alliance coming to power in the 2026 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
PP: The people of Tamil Nadu seem to prioritize national parties less than regional parties. Can you find any influence of NDA policies and PM Narendra Modi in the minds of the people of Tamil Nadu?
Sudhakar Reddy: Regional parties have been ruling Tamil Nadu for the last five decades. The scenario has changed since 2014. The people started understanding Narendra Modi‘s sincerity in strengthening India’s position in the world. Lakhs of people in Tamil Nadu now chant the name ‘Namo.’
PP: Are the Central (NDA) government schemes being implemented in Tamil Nadu known to the masses there?
Sudhakar Reddy: The BJP organized various party programs, including outreach to people in 66,000 polling booths. I took part in these programs Kongu Nadu and South Tamil Nadu. The people referred to PM-Kisan Nidhi, fertilizer subsidies, the increase in Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops, soil health cards, and crop insurance schemes. BJP State President Nainar Nagendran and BJP national vice-president and Tamil Nadu election incharge Baijayanth ‘Jay’ Panda, and I participated in a few such programs, including ‘Save Tamil Nadu.’ People came forward and explained the rowdy politics of the DMK in the state.
PP: How does the BJP view the new party of film actor Vijay, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK)? What is the impact of the new party on other parties in general and the BJP in particular?
Sudhakar Reddy: TVK chief and film actor Vijay is conducting pubilc meetings and explaining his party policies to the people. He has given a pause to his activities after the Karur stampede. We have to watch and wait on his party’s impact in Tamil Nadu.
PP:- What is your reading on the ruling of DMK government in Tamil Nadu? How AIDMK-BJP alliance will show its impact in the next elections? What is your strategy?
Sudhakar Reddy:- DMK government resorted to several irregularities during its tenure. The state is ruined in the hands of DMK and people are waiting to defeat the party in the next elections. The life of the people turned as miserable. The reputation of the state is damaged with the corruption in liquor, sand and minerals. The youth were in frustration due to the unemployment. People fear of DMK workers, who is showing their muscle power against innocent people.
PP: You are a BJP core committee member in Telangana. What is the future of the BJP in Telangana? You were one of the BJP’s star campaigners in the Jubilee Hills by-election. What are the BJP’s prospects there?
Sudhakar Reddy: The BRS government made many flaws during its two terms of rule, and people rejected it in the 2023 elections. The BJP got impressive seats in the assembly and Lok Sabha elections. The BJP will come to power in the 2029 elections. Pertaining to the Jubilee Hills elections, the BJP is focusing on the misdeeds of both the BRS and Congress governments in the election. We are hope of winning there.

As said, people are in Tamilnadu are not prioritizing Dravidian parties now in Tamilnadu. And Central Government Welfare Schemes are known to everybody in the state. Now it may be a one step head to bring BJP Government in Tamilnadu as said by Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy.
