Highlights Spiritual and Historical Significance
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday visited the renowned pilgrimage center of Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Srisailam, as part of his tour of Andhra Pradesh. The Prime Minister offered special prayers at the temple, stating that he prayed for the prosperity, happiness, and good health of all citizens of the country.
PM Modi performed the special rituals along with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. With this visit, Narendra Modi has become the fourth Indian Prime Minister to visit Srisailam Mallanna, a temple of immense historical and spiritual significance. He joins the esteemed list of former Prime Ministers who have graced the temple: Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and P. V. Narasimha Rao. This marks Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Srisailam since assuming office.

Upon his arrival at the Srisailam temple in Nandyal district, Prime Minister Modi was accorded a warm welcome by the temple authorities and priests. He participated in various pooja programs as per the temple traditions. The priests elaborated on the unique importance and historical context of the site, which is revered as one of the Dwadasha Jyotirlingas (12 sacred shrines of Lord Shiva) and one of the Ashtadasha Shakti Peethas (18 prominent divine temples of Goddess Shakti).
The Prime Minister later shared photographs of his visit on his ‘X’ account.
Following the temple darshan, Prime Minister Modi also visited the Sri Shivaji Spoorthi Kendram (Inspiration Center) located in Srisailam. This center was established to commemorate the visit of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to this sacred place in 1677. The Prime Minister inspected the meditation hall and the statue of Shivaji at the center. The organizers explained its importance and historical relevance to PM Modi.

The visit not only served as a spiritual pilgrimage but also underscored the historical and cultural significance of Srisailam, connecting the present leadership with the rich legacy of devotion and valor epitomized by the temple’s status and the tribute paid to the Maratha warrior-king, Chhatrapati Shivaji.
