Noothi Satyanarayana, the newly appointed President of the District Congress Committee (DCC) of Khammam, has set his primary goal as strengthening and expanding the party throughout the district. These are the excerpts from the interview of him by the Prime Post.

Prime Post:- What are the key steps or priorities for a new District Congress Committee President?
Satyanarayana: Drawing on my four decades of experience, I assert my strategy and I will secure a greater number of seats in the upcoming local body elections. These elections will be technically held on non-party lines, the party will select the candidates based on their proven commitment to the party. It is an occasion to me to prove my commitment to the party.
For it, I will work on the directions of three ministers in Khammam district Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister for Agriculture, Marketing, Co-operation, and Handloos and Textiles Tummala Nageswara Rao and Minister for Revenue, Housing, Information and Public Relations P Srinivasa Reddy for the elections and strengthening of the party.
PP:- What are the key priorities, organizational strategies, and immediate challenges for a newly appointed District Congress Committee (DCC) President leading the local body election campaign?
Satyanarayana: My plan involves a rigorous strategy to connect with every household. I will select sincere party activists in every village who will personally reach out to explain the six guarantees promised and being implemented by the Congress party. These guarantees are designed to uplift the poor and strengthen their financial status.
PP:- Despite opposition criticism regarding the limited on-the-ground impact of current government schemes, what specific evidence and metrics demonstrate that these programs are effectively improving the socio-economic conditions of the poor?
Satyanarayana: The reality in villages clearly illustrates the effectiveness of current schemes. Initiatives such as Mahalaxmi, Indiramma Illu, and Grihajyothi are yielding measurable results, significantly enhancing the financial stability of Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. This progress is further supported by programs like Yuva Vikasam, Cheyutha, and Rythu Bharosa, which provide crucial aid to the youth, poor senior citizens, and small and marginal farmers, respectively.
PP:- Can you confirm that your qualifications were the sole basis for your appointment, and how will you ensure your leadership is viewed as independent of any perceived favoritism?
Satyanarayana: My family has been deeply rooted in the Congress party since long. My father, Noothi Anantha Ramulu, was a respected Congress leader and a close associate of the then Chief Minister, Jalagam Vengal Rao. Following this tradition, my brother, Venkata Swamy, served in the Youth Congress. I became actively involved in the party in 1986 and was appointed the Congress Wyra Mandal President in 2004. My subsequent roles included serving as the Vice-Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) BCs Cell and later as a PCC General Secretary.
Significantly, my native village, Sthanala Laxmipuram in Wyra Mandal, is also the native village of Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. For the past three decades, I have closely collaborated with Bhatti garu, participating together in numerous party programs.
PP:- It is common for many Congress party leaders to opt for government posts like chairmen of corporations and government bodies. Are you tried for government post? What is your view on serving a short stint in the Telugu Desam Party?
Satyanarayana: Frankly speaking, I was offered government posts. However, I find greater comfort and fulfillment in a party post rather than a government position. I consider the party post a great honor that recognizes my sincere work and dedication to the organization. To confirm, yes, I was briefly associated with the Telugu Desam Party for a few months.
