The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary Board has announced a major organisational decision by appointing Nitin Nabin, a minister in the Bihar government, as the party’s new National Working President. This significant appointment was made on Sunday following the conclusion of the term of the current National President, J.P. Nadda. Mr. Nadda, who had taken charge in January 2020, received several extensions to his term, particularly around key political periods like the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This latest restructuring is highly important as the party proceeds with its process of leadership change.
So, who exactly is Nitin Nabin?

He is a seasoned and influential BJP leader from the state of Bihar, where he holds a key position in state politics. Born in Patna, Nitin Nabin is the son of the late BJP senior leader and former MLA, Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha. Following in his father’s political footsteps, he entered active politics and has established a reputation as a successful grassroots leader.
Nitin Nabin has demonstrated his electoral strength by winning the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) seat five times. He first entered the Assembly in 2006 by winning a by-election from the Patna West constituency, which occurred after his father’s passing. Subsequently, he has consistently won the Bankipur constituency in four consecutive elections: 2010, 2015, 2020, and the most recent 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. His victory in the 2020 elections, where he defeated Love Sinha (son of actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha) by a large margin, brought him national attention. In the recently concluded 2025 Bihar Assembly polls, he again secured a massive victory, triumphing over his nearest rival by an impressive margin of over 51,000 votes. Currently, Nitin Nabin is serving as the Road Construction Minister in the Bihar government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, making him responsible for a key portfolio in the state.
Being a strong leader at the state level with a consistent track record of electoral victories, Nitin Nabin is highly regarded within the party. Political analysts consider his appointment as the BJP’s National Working President to be a crucial milestone in his political journey, signalling his rise to a significant national role.
