Khammam District Collector Anudeep Durishetty has stated that the government has sanctioned and credited the highest possible compensation to the bank accounts of farmers losing their lands to the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project. Speaking with farmers from Baju Mallayagudem and Relakayalapalli villages on Tuesday, the Collector explained that the land acquisition process for Package 13 of the project was conducted strictly according to government rules. He noted that the authorities have already completed the land surveys, announced the awards, and resolved any objections raised by the villagers.

The Collector emphasized that the government’s primary goal is to provide fair prices to farmers while ensuring the project is completed to provide irrigation water and improve soil fertility in the region. He clarified that separate compensation has been provided not just for the land, but also for agricultural pump sets, structures, and various trees located on the plots. Addressing specific concerns Regarding Subabul plantations, the Forest Department has already provided estimates for payouts, but the Collector assured farmers that a re-evaluation would be conducted to ensure they receive justice.
Finally, the Collector highlighted that once the project is completed, the irrigation water will significantly increase the fertility and value of the remaining local lands. He urged the farmers to cooperate with the administration and not obstruct the construction work. Key officials, including SDC, M. Rajeshwari, Khammam RDO, G. Narasimha Rao, and Irrigation EE K. Babu Rao, were also present at the meeting.
