Former Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar called upon the newly elected councillors from BRS, CPI(M), and CPI in Wyra Municipality to play a proactive and effective role as the opposition. Speaking at a felicitation ceremony held at his camp office in Khammam on Saturday, he honored several councillors including Katta Swarupa Rani, Tirupati Shiva Kumari, Chilaka Chinna Kotaiah, Kinnera Krishna, Dontheboina Venkateshwarlu, Madineni Sunitha and Nallamothu Sailaja who won their seats as part of the alliance.

During the event, Puvvada highlighted that the BRS and its allies successfully stood their ground against the ruling party despite various challenges. He noted that in democracy, the public assigns different roles at different times—sometimes to govern and sometimes to serve as the opposition. He urged the victors to use their positions to fight for the people’s issues. Reflecting on the election results, the former minister Puvvada pointed out that the alliance proved wrong the notion that the Congress faced no competition in Wyra.

He also mentioned that since several areas in the state resulted in a “hung” verdict, the BRS has been strategic in its support, such as backing the Communist party in Kothagudem to oppose alleged scams. The meeting was attended by former MLA Dr. Banoth Chandravati and several senior leaders from the BRS, CPI(M), and CPI Krishnarjuna Rao, Vishweshwar Rao, Banala Venkateshwarlu, Suresh, Bhukya Veerabhadram, Erra Babu, Naga Bhushanam, Kotha Venkateshwarlu, Sudheer, Kiran, Prasad, Dondapati Ramesh, Bosu and Srinivasa Rao.
