- Massive Joint Protest Held at Khammam Collector’s Office
- Samineni Ramarao’s Family Joins Frontline Demonstration
- CPM, BRS, CPI, and New Democracy parties Demand Immediate Justice
The delay by the police in arresting the murderers of CPM leader Samineni Rama Rao has sparked intense anger among party members and supporters. The protest erupted after 26 days passed since Rama Rao’s murder in his native village of Patharlapadu, in Chintakani Mandal, without the culprits being caught. On Tuesday, the CPM organized a massive protest, which was joined by leaders and activists from the BRS, CPI, and CPI(ML) New Democracy parties. The demonstrators, including Rama Rao’s wife, Swarajyam, and his son, Vijay, staged a dharna (sit-in protest) outside the Khammam Collectorate . When the protesters attempted to force their way into the Collectorate, police personnel intercepted them, leading to a scuffle and a few moments of tension. The demonstration lasted for about three hours.

The protesters strongly demanded the immediate arrest of Rama Rao’s killers. They raised slogans, questioning why, despite the availability of modern technology, the police had failed to catch the culprits.
CPM State Secretary John Wesley Calls Murder a ‘Congress Political Killing’
Addressing the crowd, CPM State Secretary John Wesley criticized the police, accusing them of siding with the ruling party. He outright called the incident a “political murder,” and alleged that the Khammam Police Commissioner was acting as a Congress party worker and trying to intimidate the party. Wesley explicitly stated that the murder was a “political assassination carried out by the Congress party.” He warned that if the authorities did not immediately apprehend the killers, the party would launch a state-wide agitation.

CPI State Secretariat member Bagam Hemantha Rao also spoke, pointing out the failure of the police in arresting the accused in Rama Rao’s murder case. He warned that a continued failure to take the case seriously and punish the killers could lead to a breakdown in law and order.
Other prominent leaders who attended the protest included CPM State Secretariat member Pothineni Sudarshan Rao, BRS State leader and former Zilla Parishad Chairman Lingala Kamalaraj, and CPI(ML) New Democracy District Assistant Secretary Kola Lakshminarayana. CPM leaders Yerra Srinivasa Rao, Madineni Ramesh, Y. Vikram, Bandi Ramesh, Bonthu Rambabu and Buggaveeti Sarala. The police deployed a heavy security presence from Khammam city and surrounding Mandals, like Raghunathapalem, Thirumalayapalem, Khammam Rural, Chintakani, Konijerla, and Mudigonda, to prevent any untoward incidents.
