In a significant and heartwarming moment at the Telangana Assembly, a rare display of political courtesy took place between the state’s top leaders. Former Chief Minister and current Leader of the Opposition, K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), attended the assembly sessions today, marking a notable appearance. In a gesture that caught everyone’s attention,
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy walked over to KCR to personally greet him. The two leaders shook hands, and CM Revanth Reddy warmly enquired about KCR’s health and well-being.
The Chief Minister was not the only one to extend such courtesy. Several other prominent ministers and leaders, including Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Sridhar Babu, Adluri Laxman, Seethakka, and MLA Naveen Yadav, also approached KCR to exchange greetings and pay their respects. This brief moment of camaraderie provided a temporary reprieve from the usual political friction seen in the house.
Condolence Motions and KCR’s Brief Presence
The first day of the assembly sessions primarily focused on paying tribute to departed leaders. The House introduced condolence motions for late former MLAs Ramreddy Damodar Reddy and Konda Laxma Reddy. Members of the assembly stood in silence and expressed their grief over the loss of these veteran politicians. Interestingly, KCR’s presence in the house was very brief; he remained for only about two minutes. Immediately after the condolence motions were concluded, the BRS supremo exited the assembly premises.
CM Revanth Reddy’s Witty Reply to Media

Later, during an informal “chit-chat” with the media in the assembly lobbies, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy addressed questions regarding his interaction with KCR. When journalists pressed him for details about their conversation, the Chief Minister playfully deflected the query. “How can I tell you what we discussed privately?” he remarked, emphasizing that it was a personal and respectful interaction between two leaders.
He further clarified that his meeting with KCR was a matter of basic etiquette and respect for a fellow member of the house. He reminded the press that he had also visited KCR previously when the former CM was hospitalized. When asked why KCR left the assembly so quickly, Revanth Reddy noted that only KCR could answer that question. He reiterated his stance that the government respects every member of the assembly, regardless of their political affiliation.
Strategy for the Assembly Sessions
Shifting his focus to politics, the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made some sharp observations regarding the current state of the opposition. He commented that the BRS is currently struggling to maintain its political identity and relevance. Turning to his administration’s strategy, Revanth Reddy issued a clear directive to his cabinet colleagues. He urged ministers to be well-prepared and proactive in countering any criticisms raised by the opposition during the sessions.
He instructed ministers to lead “counter-attacks” on a district-wise basis to ensure the government’s narrative reaches the public effectively. He emphasized the importance of following legislative protocols, such as the “Point of Order,” and insisted that the government must provide comprehensive answers to every question raised by the opposition. The Chief Minister also indicated that the assembly sessions are likely to continue until January 4th, promising a busy legislative schedule ahead.
